The Complete Weihnachts-oratorium of JS Bach, Part II:XI-XIV

11. Recitativo (T)

[Evangelist]
Und alsobald war da bei dem Engel
die Menge der himmlischen Heerscharen,
die lobten Gott und sprachen:

~

And suddenly there was with the angel
the multitude of the host of heaven,
there praising God and saying:

~~~~~
12. Coro (S, A, T, B)
[Die Engel]
Ehre sei Gott in der Höhe
und Friede auf Erden
und den Menschen ein Wohlgefallen.
~
[Choir of Angels]
Glory to God in the highest
and peace on the earth now
and to mankind a sign of favor.
~~~~~

13. Recitativo (B)

So recht, ihr Engel, jauchzt und singet,
Dass es uns heut so schön gelinget!
Auf denn! wir stimmen mit euch ein,
Uns kann es so wie euch erfreun.

~

'Tis meet, ye angels, sing and triumph,
That we today have gained such fortune!
Up then! We'll join our voice to yours,
We can as well as ye rejoice.

~~~~~
14. Choral
Wir singen dir in deinem Heer
Aus aller Kraft, Lob, Preis und Ehr,
Dass du, o lang gewünschter Gast,
Dich nunmehr eingestellet hast.
~
We sing to thee amidst thy host
With all our strength, laud, fame and praise,
That thou, O long desiréd guest,
Art come into this world at last.
