Table Talk Radio: Table Scraps

Occasionally, Table Talk Radio will produce programs that air outside of their regular broadcast time called "Table Scraps." These programs can vary in length and tend to cover just one topic. Here are the latest summaries for Table Scraps...

~~~~~
Catching Up with Table Talk Radio
Apparently I've given up Table Talk Radio for Advent and Christmas, so now that we are squarely in the Epiphany season here is the backlog of show synopses.
Show #76: The Worst of Table Talk Radio
There are some games we play on Table Talk Radio that only make a single appearances. This is because they are really bad. In this edition of Table Talk Radio, we are bringing all the worst games back for one hour of horror. Listen at your own risk.
~~~~~

Show #77: Emails, Praise Songs, Baptism

In this edition we are joined by Vicar Brian Bucklew of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Mobile, AL after responding to listeners, we crunch a couple praise songs, and talk about baptism. Vicar Bucklew wrote a newsletter article entitled Baptism Works the Forgiveness Sins, which can be read here, under the articles tab.

~~~~~
Show #78: Merry Christmas from Table Talk Radio
By way of our Listener Response Line, 866-851-5523, we mix Bumper Sticker Theology and Which Ladder. After that we play Name that Theologian and end up with Book of Concord Bee.
~~~~~

Show #79: The Predictable Pastor

Introducing the new game, The Predicable Pastor, where Evan tries to guess how Pastor will respond to different news clips. Pastor and Evan also go head-to-head in Bible Bee and end up by playing Ten Commandments in the News.

Table Talk Radio Twofer: Shows 74 and 75

Time to play Pastor Bryan Wolfmueller's favorite game, "Let's catch up with Table Talk Radio."
That is, until the next game comes along, and that will be his favorite!

Show #74: Vicars vs. Pastor
In this edition of Table Talk Radio, we are joined by Vicar Mark Pierson of University Lutheran Chapel in Los Angeles, CA--campus ministry for UCLA. Vicar Pierson talks about the campus ministry work at UCLA, the internet movie "Zeitgeist," then plays CACG with Pastor.

Show #75: Name that LCMS President
After playing Who Wants to be a Theologian, we are joined by Rev. Matthew Harrison to play "Name that LCMS President" and talk about his new book "In the House of My Fathers."

I really like the UCLA's campus ministry outreach with the sign RELIGION IS FOR THE WEAK.  Of course it is!  In the words of Martin Luther, "We are all beggars."  Vicar Pierson notes that for many who visit their table, it is the first time they are hearing the pure Gospel message, without any catches or snags or "You just have to..." following the message.

Table Talk Radio Twofer: Shows 72 and 73

I am a little behind on featuring Table Talk Radio here on All for Hymn.  Perhaps if they gave me some points I would be more on the ball!

Anyways, here are the summaries...

Show #72: House, M.D.
In this edition of Table Talk Radio, after some listener response, we respond to a clip that appeared on the popular TV show House. Then we play Name that Theologian. This episode is also an extended version of Table Talk Radio, so you get more of your favorite Lutheran theological game show for less points.

Show #73: Don't Forget the Stanzas to Your Rare Luther Hymns
In today's edition of Table Talk Radio we play a new game "Questions in Pastoral Care" where Evan gets to ask Pastor any question whatsoever. After that we play "10 commandments in the news" and then we play a few lesser known Luther hymns to see if pastor can remember the stanzas.

They also have a podcast archive for previous shows.

Yes, folks this is the Table Talk Radio, everyone's favorite Lutheran theological radio program with a game show format, where the points carry the exact same exchange rate as Monopoly money.

Table Talk Radio: Promo Available on YouTube!

Well, video editing can be an interesting journey.

I was able to edit the audio clip to the show opening, add some photos and titles, and then upload to youtube.

Watch it below, or watch it here and get the embed code.

Table Talk Radio: Trying to Get to YouTube

Alright!  Iggy's first venture into youtube was Show 71 of Table Talk Radio.

This is a self-taught production, here.  Vicar Goeglein said I probably had Windows Movie Maker and I did!  From there, I thumbed around to figure out how to gel pictures and audio together.

I hit the "publish" button and 30 minutes later the complete video was in my computer.

Posting to youtube took 30-45 minutes (I lost count).

After another 15 minutes of "Uploaded, Please Wait..." Youtube rejected the video because it was too long.

Youtube videos must be 2GB or less and up to 10 minutes in length.  Facebook can be up to 1024MB and up to 20 minutes in length.

So, does anyone know, can the video be uploaded here on blogspot?  I've got 75.8MB and just under 60 minutes in length.  I tried uploading it as a "picture" and all that did was crash my computer.

Also, is there a site that will allow larger video files?

How about the Wittenberg Trail?  Will that take larger video files?

Any ideas, post them here contact the guys at TableTalkRadio.org.

Right now you'll have to come over to my place to watch the first TTR video, and that's just not practical ;)

Table Talk Radio: Show 70

The last show in the latest internet gaming craze, "Catching Up With Table Talk Radio," is Show 70, featuring Pastor Wolfmueller's favorite games, "Iron Preacher" (insert sound effect here) and "Praise Song Cruncher."

Show #70: Iron Preacher

In this edition of Iron Preacher, the Iron Preacher and his challenger, Rev. Jared Melius of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Denver, will preach the parable of the Landowner. After that, Pastor Melius will stay on to crunch a praise song with Table Talk Radio.

The cool thing about the latest internet gaming craze, "Catching Up With Table Talk Radio," is that it plays right in your browser for free.  Nothing to download, nothing to buy!

Table Talk Radio: Show 69

All for Hymn is playing the latest game on the internet, "Catching Up With Table Talk Radio."  Here's a show that I missed...

Show #69: Second Annual Reformation Edition
For this edition of the Reformation Edition of Table Talk Radio, we play "Name that Theses" then we are joined by Professor John Pless of Concordia Theological Seminary in which we played Which Ladder and Answer the Question As...

On this episode, learn the latest and greatest theological buzzwords, "Open Theism" and, directly from the justification canons of the Council of Trent, "Anathema."

Table Talk Radio: Please Update Your Bookmarks!

Table Talk Radio has a new look and an updated website.  The old bookmarks still function because the new ones have slightly different URL's.  The old bookmarks, though, do not have updated information.

Click here for the new home page.

The latest episodes can be found here.

The old forum has been obliterated in favor of a simple, "log in and post your comment here" format on the main website.  It promises to be a much more user-friendly interface.

All for Hymn will be updating the blog to reflect the newest episodes.  I am about two episodes behind.  Now that I know where the new episodes are, I can keep you up-to-date!

Table Talk Radio: Show 68

A new episode of Table Talk Radio is now up and running.

Show #68: Bumper Sticker Theology Response Line

In this edition of Table Talk Radio, we respond to our listeners who are on the prowl for Theological Bumper Stickers. After that, we crunch some popular praise songs by request, and end up playing CACG.

Listen to the show here.

Download it here.

In this week's Praise Song Cruncher, one blast from the 80's (Awesome God) and one blast from the 90's (Shine, Jesus, Shine).

That's Table Talk Radio, where the points are like abolitionists at the Munich Oktoberfest, your really not going to get anywhere with your points or your political position at that event.

Table Talk Radio: Show 67

The latest and greatest episode of Table Talk Radio is now available.

Show #67: Christian or Secular?
Brand new game on Table Talk Radio. Its where a song is played and the contestant has to figure out whether the song preformed by a Christian band or a secular band.

That's right, folks, the Table Talk Radio, everyone's favorite Lutheran radio program with a game show format and highly coveted Table Talk Radio points!

Yes, Table Talk Radio, where the points are as valuable as Tetzel's indulgences.  Well, actually, an authenticated indulgence from Tetzel might be worth something on ebay.  Never mind.

BTW, don't forget the forum!  Discuss the show's topics post other comments here.

Table Talk Radio: Show 66

A new episode has surfaced for Table Talk Radio.  Here are the show's highlights.

Show #66: Old Time Games

It seems it's been awhile since we placed Google It or Who Wants to be a Theologian. So that's what we play in this edition of Table Talk Radio, finishing up with some Bible Bee.

No word from the show's hosts.  I want to give out "frequent commenter points" to my readers, and I was hoping Table Talk Radio would sponsor the points in exchange for these shameless plugs, but apparently the points are in short demand since Seminarian Goeglein was given something like 2 million of them.  This is my hypothesis, since they didn't return my emails.

That's Table Talk Radio, where the points are like infant baptism in a Pentecostal church, pretty much non-existent.

Table Talk Radio: Show 65

Table Talk Radio, everyone's favorite Lutheran talk show on the internet featuring a game show format, has just posted their latest episode.

Show #65: You Might be a Pietist If...

You have to listen this week as we go through the top 10 list for, "You Might be a Pietist if..." we also play "Name that Church Body."

The description of each show tend to disappear when a new show is aired, so said descriptions will appear here on All for Hymn, starting with the current episode.

You can comment on the show both on this blog and at TTR's forum.

A Multitude of Mighty Fortresses: Definitions, Part III: bulwark?!

BULWARK: I have no idea what this means.

In the Lutheran tradition we have a ton of words that we use that we assume people know, especially in the liturgy.  Words like Salutary, Nunc Dimittis, Absolution and Collect (this has nothing to do with the gathering offerings, and you place the emphasis on the first syllable).

For example, The Lutheran Hymnal (1941) contains the phrase, "It is truly meet, right and salutary..."

Lutheran Worship (1982) and Lutheran Service Book (2006) changed it up a little to read, "It is truly good, right and salutary..."

On Sunday, someone asked me what salutary meant.  After a brief brainstorm I came up with "beneficial - it's good for us!"

"Are you sure?" I was asked.

I bring all this up because we who have retained lots of big words over the years have not used "bulwark" in our hymnal.

I will leave it up to the readers to explain it.  This may take awhile, because I have all of two readers, and they belong to my tradition!

What I do have, though, is some TABLE TALK RADIO points that I have accumulated.  Yes, this is the Table Talk Radio ... everyone's favorite Lutheran radio program featuring theology within a game show format.

Yes, folks, that's Table Talk Radio ... where the points are like papal primacy to a Lutheran ... they are both good things for him to write about but he has to question the authority of both the points and the pope.

I will give 10 Table Talk Radio points to the person who can tell us all what a "bulwark" is in plain, simple terms.  Please use your own words and not something you found on wikipedia.

There are 10 bonus points on the line if you can provide a link to a photo of one.

I only have around 700 points total, so I must ration them out carefully.
