Advent III: Hark! A Thrilling Voice is Sounding!

Hark! A thrilling voice is sounding!
"Christ is near," we hear it say.
"Cast away the works of darkness,
All you children of the day!"

Startled at the solemn warning,
Let the earthbound soul arise;
Christ, the sun, all sloth dispelling,
Shines upon the morning skies.

See the Lamb, so long expected,
Comes with pardon down from heaven.
Let us haste, with tears of sorrow,
One and all, to be forgiven.

So when next He comes in glory
And the world is wrapped in fear,
He will shield us with His mercy
And with words of love draw near.

Honor, glory, and dominion
To the Father and the Son
With the everliving Spirit
While eternal ages run!
AMEN!

  2. Give me a webcam and I'll make you one! I was "introduced" to Merton this evening at Good Shepherd, Elgin because I do not have an LSB, yet. I was unpleasantly surprised. While the orchestra and choir do a nice job, Freuen Wir Uns All In Ein does a much better job, in my opinion, of capturing the fact that the Savior came, not with fanfare, but in a backwards town in a smelly cave to a couple of refugees. Considering we are all refugees in need of this miracle, I'll go with LW on this one. I still get chills when listen to the Fort Wayne Kantorei sing it.
